The Octopus Garden: A Glowing Success at PDX Winter Light Festival!

The 2025 PDX Winter Light Festival has come to a brilliant close, leaving Portland aglow with memories of art, light, and community. This year’s festival, themed “A Light For Tomorrow: A Technicolor Future”, celebrated its 10th anniversary by transforming the city into a luminous tapestry of creativity and innovation.

Wow—what an unforgettable experience! The Octopus Garden made its dazzling debut at the festival, and we are still riding the waves of excitement. Seeing so many people step up to Kyle Shelton‘s glowing underwater world, filled with intricately folded sea creatures, was beyond magical. The black light illumination made the installation feel alive, and watching visitors’ faces light up with wonder was the best reward of all!

A massive THANK YOU to the PDX Winter Light Festival and everyone who came by, shared their enthusiasm, and supported this creative vision. And of course, a huge shoutout to Tre Roberts, whose mesmerizing ceiling made from repurposed materials added another dimension to the experience!

We hope “The Octopus Garden” inspired you to see waste in a new light—to fold, create, and reimagine materials in ways that honor both art and our planet. 💙✨

Until next time—keep creating, keep recycling, and keep seeing beauty in the unexpected! 🐙🌎💫
